Some places need no introduction, and Villa Balbiano is arguably the most exclusive and best-known villa on Lake Como. A symbol of absolute elegance, it impresses with its grand architecture and symmetrical gardens that look like they belong to another era. This time we chose to photograph the villa from a different perspective: from the water, aboard a vintage boat, exploring the surroundings of this iconic place.
The Cadenazzi experience: the star of Lake Como
To get those Pinterest-style photographs, the choice of boat is essential. We chose Cadenazzi, who offer some of the most beautiful and best-kept vintage boats in the area. What set them apart was not only the look of the boat but also the team. We worked with a very open captain, and we communicated well. He understood immediately what I was looking for visually and positioned the boat in the best angles. That detail separates a simple boat ride from a successful photo session, where everything goes naturally and without stress.
Villa Balbiano: luxury at the water’s edge
Villa Balbiano remains the main attraction for any luxury destination wedding in Italy. Seen from the lake, the villa shows its true grandeur. It is a favourite for top private events, and the surroundings give a dramatic backdrop where the mountain meets impeccably kept gardens. Floating past the villa at sunset in a varnished wooden boat is an experience that cannot be replicated anywhere else.
From Issa Resort in Turda to the shore of Lake Como
This after-wedding session features Denisa and Tudor, a lovely couple from Cluj. After a superb wedding at Issa Resort in Turda, we decided to continue their story. We got on a plane and within a few hours we were on the lake shore. We spent three intense days in Como, making the most of every moment. Besides the boat session we visited other iconic places I fell in love with, including Villa Melzi in Bellagio.
