How I photograph a civil wedding in Brașov
I am Daniel, a civil wedding photographer who travels to Brașov for your day. I am there for the preparations, the ceremony, the hugs with your guests and then for a walk through the old town or up towards the mountain, just the two of you.
Brașov gives a civil wedding something few towns have: the medieval centre and the Tâmpa hill are minutes from the registry office, so your couple session does not cost you an hour of driving.

How much does a civil wedding photographer cost in Brașov?
My basic package for a civil wedding in Brașov is 400 EUR. It covers at least two hours: a short preparation, the ceremony, photographs with your guests and a couple session in the town.
- Basic package, 400 EUR: 2+ hours of photography, about 300 edited photographs and a private online gallery.
- Extra hours, 70 EUR per hour: if you want photographs at the meal or at the party. They go into the same gallery.
- Travel to Brașov is included in the price, whatever the time of the ceremony. The price includes my travel from Cluj-Napoca or Târgu Mureș.
You can build your offer and accept it online on the civil wedding photographer page. If a full wedding follows later, the prices for every format are on my wedding photographer prices page.
City hall fees, separate from the photographer’s fee
Brașov has something other towns do not: published fees for officiating a marriage, which depend on the day and place of the ceremony. I list them here because they are part of the day’s budget, and many couples discover them only at the counter.
- On weekdays, within the institution’s hours: no fee.
- Saturday: 250 lei. Sunday: 500 lei.
- A ceremony outside the office: 1,500 lei, with its own regulation.
- If neither of you lives in Brașov: 150 lei.
The fees are set by a local council decision and can change from year to year, so check them on the official page of the Brașov Civil Registry before you calculate.
How a civil wedding day in Brașov goes
Weekday ceremonies start after 12:30, and at weekends marriages are officiated depending on the number of requests. The day usually looks like this:
- One hour before: preparations, the bouquet and the last details of the outfit.
- 20–30 minutes before: we arrive on Eroilor Boulevard. Guests and witnesses gather in front of the building.
- The ceremony: around 10–15 minutes. The act is read, rings are exchanged, and you and your two witnesses sign.
- Right after: congratulations and photographs with family in front of the building or in the park opposite.
- The couple session: 45–60 minutes through the old town.
- The meal or the party: if you want photographs there too, we add hours.
Because weekday ceremonies start at noon, the light outside is the harshest of the day. From experience, it is worth leaving the couple session for the end: after four o’clock, in the old centre of Brașov, the light changes completely.

Where civil weddings take place in Brașov
Civil weddings in the town are held at the Wedding House, in the Civil Registry Service building at 8 Eroilor Boulevard, room 24. The marriage declaration is filed there too, so it is a single trip, unlike other towns where the file is filed elsewhere.
- Public hours: Monday–Thursday 08:30–12:00, Friday 08:30–11:30. Ceremonies start at 12:30, and on Fridays at 12:00.
- On Saturday and Sunday marriages are officiated depending on the number of requests.
- The last Friday of the month there is no public service, and only already-booked marriages are officiated. It is easy to miss when you pick the day to go with your documents.
- Online booking of the date is not mandatory in Brașov, but both spouses must come in person with the documents to fill in the marriage declaration.
- Contact: 0268 414460, extension 368, or casatorii@spclepbv.ro.
The marriage takes place from the 11th day after filing the declaration and at the latest on the 30th day, counting both the filing day and the ceremony day. The premarital medical certificate required in Brașov is valid for 30 days and must be valid both at filing and on the ceremony day. The full list of documents is in my guide to getting married in Romania.
The ceremony can also be held outside the office, with its own regulation and a fee of 1,500 lei. It is the option for couples who want the ceremony right at the party venue: at a mountain lodge, at Poiana Brașov or in a garden. Check the regulation before you book the venue.
Where we take the photographs after the ceremony in Brașov
From Eroilor Boulevard you reach almost all the places below on foot in a few minutes. In an hour you can link two or three of them without a rush.
Nicolae Titulescu Park
Right next to the building, across the boulevard. It is the natural first stop for photographs with guests: wide alleys, old trees and Tâmpa behind. It works in any season.
Council Square and the Black Church
Ten minutes on foot. The square gives wide frames, with colourful buildings and the Council House in the middle, and the wall of the Black Church is a plain background that leaves all attention on you.
Strada Sforii and the Schei streets
For more intimate photographs. Strada Sforii is well known and often busy, but the streets around it are quiet and have old walls, wooden doors and stairs climbing the hill.
The walkway along the walls and the bastions
The citadel wall, the Weavers’ Bastion and the alley under Tâmpa. It is the shadiest area in the centre, so it works very well at noon, when the light in the square is too harsh.
Poiana Brașov and Tâmpa
If you have time and want mountains in your photographs. The cable car takes you up Tâmpa in minutes, and Poiana Brașov is about 12 km from the centre. Both need an extra hour in the schedule.
If the day continues elsewhere
I go on with you to the party venue, in Brașov, at Poiana, at Bran, at Sinaia or at a mountain lodge. I have photographed weddings at Cantacuzino Castle in Bușteni and couple sessions at Cabana Șapte in Breaza.

My photography style at a civil wedding
I photograph in a documentary way: I stand to one side and let the day unfold. The look between you before the signature, a parent’s hand wiping their eyes, the laugh after the rings happen only once and look different if I ask for them a second time.
At the couple session I guide you a little more. I give you something simple to do, like a walk or a joke between the two of you, and I photograph what comes out. After the first minutes you forget about the camera, and it flows from there. The result is in my portfolio.
How we work together
- You write to me with the date and time of the ceremony, and I confirm availability and send an offer within 2 hours.
- We talk, online or in person, about the day, the people who matter and the moments that must not be missed.
- We sign the contract, and you pay the date reservation fee of 30% of the contract value.
- On the day I arrive before the ceremony and stay with you through the preparations, the ceremony and the guests.
- We continue with the couple session, in the place we chose together.
- You receive the edited photographs in a private online gallery, and the remaining 70% is paid after the event.
When you receive the photographs
- In 1–3 days you receive a preview with a few frames, so you have something to show your family.
- In 3–4 weeks you receive the full edited gallery in a private link that stays active for at least a year.
- Download in full resolution, with no logo and with printing rights. If you want the photographs on paper too, we make a photo album together (page in Romanian).
Tips for a civil wedding in Brașov
- Check the last Friday of the month. There is no public service that day, so choose another day to file.
- Book the ceremony early. Weekend dates fill first, and Saturday has a fee of 250 lei and Sunday 500 lei.
- Leave the couple session for the afternoon. After four o’clock the light in the old town is softer.
- Get the medical certificate so that it is valid both at filing (30 days in Brașov) and on the ceremony day.
- IDs and witnesses. Identity documents must be valid at filing and on the ceremony day, and the two witnesses bring their IDs.
- If it rains, we use the covered passages of the centre and the entrance of the building. We decide beforehand where we go.
- Tell me in advance if you are preparing something special.
