Bokaa Buftea: Lakeside Wedding Venue

Bokaa is a wedding venue on the shore of Lake Buftea, about 30 minutes from Bucharest. It has five halls with different capacities, from 30 to 300 seated guests (or 800 at a cocktail-style event), plus 30,000 square metres of gardens, a pontoon on the lake and a pool you can book exclusively for your wedding. The menu starts at about 66 euro per person plus VAT, with no separate venue rental fee.

Where Bokaa is

The full name is Bokaa – Back to Nature Events. The venue is at Aleea Cu Brazi 3-5, Buftea, Ilfov County, right on the lake. From the centre of Bucharest it is about 25–30 km, roughly 30 minutes by car outside rush hour. For couples from Cluj-Napoca or Târgu Mureș, where I work most often, it is about 450 km and 5 hours from Cluj-Napoca and 330 km and 4 hours from Târgu Mureș (approximate distances). The five halls

• Allure: the most intimate, up to 90 guests, with a covered terrace overlooking the lake.
• Oasis: modern and minimalist, up to 140 seated or 200 at a cocktail.
• B-Lake: up to 250 guests, with a panoramic lake view and protected century-old trees around it.
• Mediterranean Garden: the largest classic hall, up to 300 guests, with Tuscan-inspired architecture and marble fountains.
• Waterly: the newest, up to 300 seated or 800 at a cocktail, with its own terrace and direct access to the pontoon.

The minimum number of guests depends on the day of the week: lower on Friday and Sunday, higher on Saturday. At Allure the minimum is 30 on Friday and Sunday and 50 on Saturday. At Mediterranean Garden and Waterly it is 100 on Friday and Sunday and 160 on Saturday. For exact numbers on a given date, ask Bokaa for an offer.

Gardens, pontoon and pool

Besides the halls, Bokaa has 30,000 square metres of green space on the shore, with century-old trees kept in the landscaping. The pontoon is available for the ceremony and the couple’s photo session, with the lake as the background. The pool and the relaxation area around it can be booked exclusively for your event.

How much a wedding at Bokaa costs

Bokaa does not publish exact prices on its website, so you need to ask the team for an offer. The one figure I could verify comes from a widely reported 2023 wedding held there: the menu started at about 66 euro per person plus VAT at the time. That is a price from a few years ago, so check it with the venue for your date. The structure announced on the website is simple: you pay for the chosen menu and the open bar package plus VAT, with no venue rental fee and no separate service fee. Natural floral arrangements, tablecloths and chair models are included in the menu price, chosen from the available options.

Civil ceremony at Bokaa

The ceremony can be held on the pontoon, in the garden or in any of the five halls, depending on guest numbers and season. The website does not say whether a registrar comes to the venue, and rules for civil ceremonies outside the town hall differ between towns, so check directly with Bokaa and with the registry office. Accommodation for a two-day wedding

For couples who want a Friday evening party as well as the Saturday wedding, Bokaa has accommodation on site: nine Mediterranean-style cottages with two rooms each, four studios and Vila Bokaa, with three bedrooms, a living room and a kitchen. All have Wi-Fi, TV and a lake view from the terraces. That is the logistics my two-day wedding option is made for: I am present at the Friday dinner and at the full Saturday.

Well-known weddings at Bokaa

On 30 July 2023, Dani Oțil and Gabriela Prisecariu held their wedding at Bokaa, on the lakeside terrace, with white flowers and many fairy lights, among colleagues from Antena 1, relatives and close friends (according to ziare.com). The 66 euro figure above comes from that wedding. On 24 April 2026, Dorian Popa and Andreea also married at Bokaa: about 120 guests, the party inside the Bokaa restaurant, a ceremony on the pontoon and 25,000 white roses in the decor (according to Acasă TV).

What I photograph at a wedding by a lake

Water changes the light. At golden hour, the reflection on the lake effectively doubles the light source and softens shadows on faces without extra lighting. The green around you, with century-old trees and well-kept lawns, works as a natural background for portraits. The pontoon is where I usually make the best couple frames: water on two sides, a straight horizon and nothing distracting. In the evening, the terraces with hanging lights give a warm atmosphere for the party, and reflections of the lights on the lake complete the composition.

Getting there and practical tips

The exact address is Aleea Cu Brazi 3-5, Buftea, Ilfov. Parking is private, video-monitored and included for events. Each hall has a covered option (covered terraces or indoor space), useful if the weather does not cooperate.
