How much does a civil wedding photographer cost in Sighișoara?

My basic package for a civil wedding in Sighișoara is 350 EUR. It covers at least two hours: a short preparation, the ceremony, photographs with your guests and a couple session in the town.

• Basic package, 350 EUR: 2+ hours of photography, about 300 edited photographs and a private online gallery.
• Extra hours, 49 EUR per hour: if you want photographs at the meal or at the party. They go into the same gallery.
• Travel to Sighișoara is included in the price. I come from Târgu Mureș, an hour away.

How a civil wedding day in Sighișoara goes

Every couple makes their own schedule, but the hours fall in a similar order. This is how a typical civil wedding day looks, so you can calculate the hours you need.

• One hour before: preparations, the bouquet and the last details of the outfit.
• 20–30 minutes before: we arrive at the Civil Registry. Guests and witnesses gather in front of the building.
• The ceremony: around 10–15 minutes, as long as the booked interval lasts. The act is read, rings are exchanged, and you and your two witnesses sign.
• Right after: congratulations and photographs with family, outside.
• The couple session: 45–60 minutes, climbing towards the citadel.
• The meal or the party: if you want photographs there too, we add hours.

If you booked a Monday or Friday ceremony, at noon, the light in the square is harsh. From experience, leave the couple session for the afternoon: in the citadel, on the narrow streets, the shade is soft all the time, and towards evening the stones take a warm colour.

Where civil weddings take place in Sighișoara

When marriages are officiated in Sighișoara

This is the biggest difference from other towns and the first thing I check when someone asks me about a date: in Sighișoara marriages are officiated on only three days a week, by appointment.

• Monday, between 13:00 and 15:00.
• Friday, between 12:00 and 13:00.
• Saturday, between 09:00 and 13:00.
• Appointments are made every 15 minutes. On the other days of the week and on public holidays, no marriages are officiated.

The 15-minute interval changes how the day works: the ceremony flows quickly and the next couple enters right after you. That is why I arrive early, photograph the arrival and the emotion in the hallway, and make the family photographs outside, where we have room and light.

Where the documents are filed

The marriage declaration is filed at the Local Community Public Service for the Records of Persons in Sighișoara, at 15 Hermann Oberth street, where ceremony appointments are also made. The service also covers the surrounding communes: Albești, Vânători, Saschiz, Daneș, Apold and Viișoara.

• Phone: 0265 771 140. The town hall is at 7 Piața Muzeului.
• The marriage takes place 10 days after the declaration is posted. If 30 days pass and the marriage has not taken place, a new declaration is filed.
• The premarital medical certificate required in Sighișoara is valid for 14 days from issue, so get it shortly before you take the documents.
• Identity documents must be valid both at filing and on the ceremony day.
• The declaration is posted publicly, at the town hall and on its website.

The ceremony can also be held outside the office, in public gardens, parks, museums or other outdoor places, at your request and with the mayor’s approval. The town hall has a separate regulation for this. The full list of documents is in my guide to getting married in Romania.

Where we take the photographs after the ceremony in Sighișoara

Sighișoara is a small town, and the citadel is a few minutes’ walk away. In an hour we climb, photograph in three or four places and come down, without running.

Citadel Square and the Clock Tower

The heart of the citadel and the place with the most backgrounds in a small space: colourful houses, the tower and the passages between buildings. In summer it is full of tourists at noon, so I prefer either the morning or after five o’clock.

The Covered Stairs and the Church on the Hill

The wooden stairway that climbs to the church is the most photogenic place in town and, besides, it is covered, so it saves the session if it rains. Up there, next to the church, you have quiet and a view over the roofs.

The streets with coloured houses

Școlii street, Cositorarilor street, the inner courtyards. They are narrow and shaded, so they work even at noon, when the light in the square is too strong.

The walls and the guild towers

For more graphic frames, with stone and old wood. The alley under the walls is quiet almost always, even in peak season.

My photography style at a civil wedding

I photograph in a documentary way: I stand to one side and let the day unfold. The look between you before the signature, a parent’s hand wiping their eyes, the laugh after the rings happen only once and look different if I ask for them a second time.

At the couple session I guide you a little more. I give you something simple to do, like a walk or a joke between the two of you, and I photograph what comes out. After the first minutes you forget about the camera, and it flows from there. The result is in my portfolio.

How we work together

1. You write to me with the date and time of the ceremony, and I confirm availability and send an offer within 2 hours.
2. We talk, online or in person, about the day, the people who matter and the moments that must not be missed.
3. We sign the contract, and you pay the date reservation fee of 30% of the contract value.
4. On the day I arrive before the ceremony and stay with you through the preparations, the ceremony and the guests.
5. We continue with the couple session, in the place we chose together.
6. You receive the edited photographs in a private online gallery, and the remaining 70% is paid after the event.

When you receive the photographs

• In 1–3 days you receive a preview with a few frames, so you have something to show your family.
• In 3–4 weeks you receive the full edited gallery in a private link that stays active for at least a year.
• Download in full resolution, with no logo and with printing rights. If you want the photographs on paper too, we make a photo album together (page in Romanian).

Tips for a civil wedding in Sighișoara

• Book an appointment early. There are only three days a week, and Saturday mornings go first.
• Get the medical certificate close to the day you file. It is valid for 14 days.
• Arrive early. The 15-minute interval means the next couple is already in the hallway.
• IDs and witnesses. Identity documents must be valid at filing and on the ceremony day, and the two witnesses bring their IDs.
• If it rains, the Covered Stairs and the passages of the citadel give us cover. We decide beforehand where we go.
• Tell me in advance if you are preparing something special.
